Alcohol and Christianity, also the major effect that Food Allergy has on Alcoholism.
Lots of different opinions. Bible is mostly against drunkard or drunkenness or too much wine, unless you have great pain or dying, then it is ok to have excessive wine to ease the pain. Timothy took 1 or 2 glasses of wine to ease his stomach problems. To some it is a food allergy and they can't just drink one glass, they end up drinking the whole bottle. Food allergy can cause that. These people can easily become drunkards. They should avoid it. Check the web pages

>>>"Please explain as I don't understand. Are you saying that people that have a problem with alcohol are actually allergic to it? "<<< Most people do not understand food allergies and how it effects you and your body. Most Doctors don't even know because they have not researched it either. One Doctor I read about "cure" 60% of his patients by showing the person which foods they were allergic to and avoid those foods. One lady had canker sores in her mouth most of her life and went to this doctor and he tested her for food allergy and found she was allergic to eggs. She had eggs most everyday of her life. She stopped eating eggs and the canker sores stopped. One characteristic of food allergy is a food that you may Bingeing on or eat too much of it. Instead of just one bowl of the item you may want 2 or 3 or 4 bowls, far beyond normal. Look at Pizza. Most foods in Pizza are common allergic type food. Can you just eat one small piece and stop or do you want more and more. Dairy products are another high allergic food. Can you just eat a small amount and stop, or do you want more and more. If you eat an allergic food your eye pupil will dilate within 20 minutes of eating the food item. Also look at the study that compares food allergies to Blood types. Common blood types will have common allergies. Study Blood types and Diets. Do your own research and check it out. People get drunk for many reasons. I feel food allergies can play a part of the problem, but not the only part. Bingeing on alcohol can be a much bigger problem then Bingeing on Pizza.

>>>>Thanks for the links, but I didn't see any info on alcoholism and allergies Did I miss it?<<< But if you see that a person Bingeing on what foods they are allergic to, then you can make the connection to other "foods" or items or chemicals that go into the body. Some Drugs are addictive in themselves. But when it come to alcohol some people have no problem limiting it to 1 or 2 drinks, where others can't and they benign on it. >>>but what your theory is failing to address is the alcoholics behavior that in many cases stays around even after he stops drinking.<<<<< I'm not even talking about that. I'm talking about why the bingeing. Why can't they stop after 1 or 2 drinks? >>>>The alcoholic family structure is one that repeats the pattern of alcohol abuse through generations.<<<< Many times food allergies are inherited like many other things are inherited. >>>> Even families with adopted children, where an alcoholic is present, still pass on the social structure that helps crete an alcoholic environment.<<<<< Food allergy does not answer all the questions. If you are taught to drink and everyone around you always gets drunk you may copy them. If you do this over and over you can become addictive to it. Also you can create a food allergy to it by over doing it and the body tries to reject it and it may become an allergy. Allergy can change over time or by abusing something.
>>> So it isn't just genetic. Read up on codependency and alcoholism. Its much deeper than an allergy. Its a family structure and environment<<<<< I'm not saying that allergy is the only thing but it may be part of the problem. Why can't they stop after 1 or 2 drinks? After they are a drunk, then of course there are a lot more issues involved. Alcohol become addictive by itself if you continue to abuse it over and over. Most people totally over look the food allergy part of it.

Cravings may be interpreted as urges to find missing nutrients, but the foods found in compulsive searches are not biologically correct. Instead, food cravings are a symptom of an addictive loop. The term "addictive food allergy" was suggested to describe the connection between compulsive eating and illness. .... Many fail to recognize their food addiction, and do not admit that they are ill. They will seem surprised when it is suggested that food allergy may be involved and resist advice that "favorite" foods such as bread and cheese may be a problem. They are involved in typical addictive denial. heir denial that food makes them ill is often reinforced by treatment programs that fail to recognize food allergy symptoms and discourage efforts to change food choices. Some bulimics are also alcoholics; the patterns are similar in any case since compulsive drinking of alcoholic beverages is just another type food addiction.

Relax. This program will work for all alcoholics but you may be suffering from food allergies or chemical sensitivities that must be identified and treated before your recovery can be complete. "
Be sure to read the whole web page, this is only part of : http://www.nutramed.com/alcohol/alcoholneg.htm "Dr. Sidney Cohen, a drug abuse expert , described alcohol as "the most dangerous drug on earth". There are a variety of drinking patterns and the range of injury among alcohol abusers is great. Some are mildly injured and can recover on their own with the right tools and techniques. Others are critically injured and need hospitalization and prolonged rehabilitation with custodian supervision. Compare the heavy drinker with an injured person - the body is damaged and must heal. The damage is done by the toxic effects of alcohol, by nutrient deficiencies and by other adverse effects of the wrong food such as food allergy. Heavy drinkers tend to starve - they eat little or have limited, inferior food choices. They have used up their nutrient stores and are often drawing on their own tissues for fuel...AB's contribute to malnutrition by replacing foods needed for essential nutrients and by interfering with absorption, storage or metabolism of the essential nutrients. Ethanol may suppress appetite and consumption of food. In some individuals, however, AB's trigger excessive eating instead. Food choices follow an addictive pattern, with nutrient deficiencies based on poor food choices. Bowel distension and diarrhea are common GIT effects and are correlated with increased brain disturbances. The increased absorption of undigested proteins sets the stage for all the food "allergic" diseases."
Be sure to read the whole web page, this is only part of : http://www.nutramed.com/alcohol/alcoholism.htm "The attempt to change eating behaviors often reveals the addictive process in a typical sequence of withdrawal, clearing, cravings, falling-off-the-wagon, bingeing, retreating and clearing. This sequence repeats over months and years. We recognize similar recursive loops with foods, alcoholic beverages, and drugs. Often, people with food allergy or other food-related illness are abnormal eaters. Most people report sugar cravings and/or bingeing. "Sugar" means a wide range of candies, cookies, desserts, baked goods, pop, ice cream, and junk food. Sugar is only one component among many that may cause trouble, but these foods definitely trigger strong cravings and compulsive or binge eating"
Be sure to read the whole web page, this is only part of : http://www.healthrecovery.com/chemical_allergies_candida.html Food Allergie s"The amazing changes that alcohol can trigger in the allergic/addicted alcoholic demonstrate how profoundly the brain is affected by substances it cannot tolerate. Reactions can include anger, loss of control, physical fights, crying, and suicide attempts. if you are allergic/addicted, you may have inherited a biological predisposition to food and chemical intolerance's. if so, problems usually begin to develop after you start using the allergenic substance frequently Your first encounter with it probably made you sick, but with prolonged use your body adapts in a way that suggests you are tolerating the substance. In fact, an addiction is gradually building. When the substance is present, you feel a lift or high. Withdrawal triggers a number of unpleasant or painful symptoms ranging from depression to exhaustion. Unfortunately, giving up alcohol won't necessarily eliminate these problems. Your addictive needs may soon lead you elsewhere for a fix. You may drink pots of coffee laced with sugar or get your high from binging on foods containing the same grains as the alcohol you used to drink. Or you may chain-smoke and drink colas continually. If so, your behavior will be almost as erratic as it was when you were drinking.
Compulsive Eating and Food Allergy Do you crave certain foods the way drug addicts crave a fix? if so, you may be allergic/addicted to those foods. When this is the case, the foods in question are improperly metabolized in your body and trigger psychoactive chemicals that produce an initial high soon followed by a loss of control (binging) and other negative symptoms like fogginess, fatigue, and depression. life becomes one binge after another, and weight begins to accumulate. Eventually, some affected individuals turn bulimic to control their weight. The alternative is anorexia nervosa and starvation. If an allergic/addicted person cuts food intake and subsists on salads and vegetables, their cravings will probably subside. This regime eliminates the volatile foods that trigger binges, but it will also deplete stores of the natural chemicals needed for normal brain functioning.A number of studies have shown that eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia nervosa are linked to zinc deficiencies probably be-cause zinc affects our taste, sense of smell, and appetite. In a study at Stanford University, a group of zinc-deficient anorexic adolescents were given supplements, while a control group got none. The youngsters taking zinc began to gain weight. Their senses of taste and smell improved, and their depression and anxious moods lifted. They also began to mature sexually (sexual development can be arrested among anorexic adolescents).Obesity can also be associated with zinc deficiency . A study at the University of Tennessee Medical Center showed that people who repeatedly regain weight after dieting (victims of the so-called yo-yo syndrome) can lose again without dieting by taking liquid zinc supplements. The Tennessee-study participants lost three to five pounds per month with no other lifestyle changes.Be Your Own Detective: The Elimination Diet One effective way to confirm that a specific food is causing you problems is to stop eating it for at least one week. This isn't as easy as it sounds, because if you are allergic/addicted, you may develop withdrawal symptoms as your body pleads for its usual fix of these foods. Symptoms vary from person to person and can include headache or fatigue during the first days. Back and joint aches may develop on the third day and persist for a day or two. Among the "psychological" symptoms of withdrawal are anxiety, confusion, depression, and mood swings. if you are chemically sensitive, try to avoid exposure during this week to fresh paint, new synthetic carpets, cleaning solutions, gas stoves, tobacco smoke, auto exhaust, perfumes, and shopping malls (which are filled with fumes from the formaldehyde in new clothing, furniture, and fabrics). (A note to smokers: Do not smoke during an elimination diet. Cigarettes are loaded with chemicals that keep allergic users in a chronically reactive state. You won't be able to see the effects of the diet while you continue to smoke.)By the end of the week, withdrawal agonies, if any, will have ceased . After that, reintroducing the suspected food(s) should produce noticeable symptoms. This is your body's way of telling you whether or not it can tolerate the food."
Be sure to read the whole web page, this is only part of : http://www.healthrecovery.com/chemical_allergies_candida.html Candida Albicans: Alcohol's Silent Partner "Bob is a typical AA member. It's Friday night, and he is attending the regular meeting at a local church. As the speaker rambles on, Bob stirs two heaping teaspoons of sugar into a large cup of coffee. He has already helped demolish a huge chocolate cake. During the two-hour meeting, Bob also drinks two cans of Coke.As the meeting winds down, Bob finishes his second pack of cigarettes for the day. He coughs several times as he gets up to leave and resolves once again to quit smoking that weekend. Of course, Bob doesn't quit, and by Monday his little cough has escalated into full-fledged sinusitis and bronchitis. His head aches, and he is running temperature of 101 degrees. On Wednesday, Bob stays home from work and goes to see his family doctor, who prescribes amoxicillin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic. In a few days Bob's fever has subsided, but he still has a headache. For the next two weeks, he feels "just plain rotten." To make matters worse, the antibiotic gave him diarrhea. Later, as he slowly recovers, Bob realizes that the infection was his third of the year; each time, it has taken longer to recover. He is worn out, worried about his health, and depressed by his physical discomfort. Bob has been depressed like this before. The only thing that seems to help is alcohol. Within days he'll fall off the wagon again. Bob's nagging suspicion that something more than simply lowered resistance is responsible for his ill health is right on target. He has an infection with a yeast called Candida albicans. if you have ever been to an AA meeting, you can appreciate why candida infections are so common among both drinking and recovering alcoholics. Described by a university researcher as a "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde trouble-maker" because of its elusive but destructive nature, this yeast thrives on sugar. Most alcoholics serve as tasty breeding grounds for candida because their systems are loaded with sugar." Maintain maximum health and prevent diseases and cancers.
